Registering for Classes

International Undergraduate Registration

You will meet with an academic advisor to register for courses during the orientation process.  Once you have checked in with International Services you will receive a scheduled appointment to meet with your academic advisor for course registration.

In advance of your appointment, it would be helpful if you would please follow the following link to the University Division First Steps page, step 4 and print and fill out the Academic Enrollment Plan (APW).

Eighty-five percent of new freshmen students are admitted to University Division (UD).  UD students are admitted with an intended major that was chosen through the IU application.  If you are admitted to University Division you can begin taking courses related to your intended major, and you will work with your UD academic advisor toward full admission into your intended major program.  UD advisors have in-depth knowledge of the courses and requirements for entry into the many degree programs offered at IU, and they will be able to provide you with comprehensive advising as you begin your studies at IU.

New transfer students are admitted to University Division, and this includes all transfer students with an intended major of business.

It is possible to change your intended major when meeting with your academic advisor.  When meeting with your advisor you can also discuss adding additional majors or minors to your degree program.  If as you begin your studies you find that you are interested in a different major program, you can also work with your advisor to either add a new major or change your major.

Intended Business Students

The majority of freshmen intended business majors are admitted to University Division.  Only a small minority of freshmen are directly admitted to the Kelley School of Business.

All transfer students with an intended major of business are admitted to the University Division.

Admission to the University Division does not mean that you will not be able to major in business.  While in UD you can begin your course of studies that will start you on the path toward admission to the Kelley School of Business.  Through UD you will need to successfully complete the prerequisites of the Kelley School of Business for admission to the program.  If you have not already done so, you should read carefully the detailed information the Kelley School of Business publishes regarding admission.

International Graduate Registration

You will need to work with your graduate program in order to register for courses.  You will be able to register once you have completed your check in with International Services through international orientation.

Your graduate program is likely to have its own orientation program, so be sure to be in contact with your program’s office about orientation requirements.

More information can be found at the Registrar’s Office.
