Plan Your Arrival
Once you are admitted to IU, there are a number of things you need to do before you arrive to begin your program.
Use the iStart checklist to plan your arrival. Completing all items in the checklist is critical for a successful transition to life at IU.
Your To Do List
Make Your Travel Plans
It is absolutely critical that you arrive on time for orientation. Find your arrival date and book your flights accordingly. You will be unable to enroll at Indiana University until you complete orientation.
Information about on-campus housing options and the housing contract/application are available on the Residential Programs and Services website. The housing application fee is $200 and is not refundable. If you decide to not attend IU, you may be subject to other housing cancellation fees. You can find more information on the RPS website.
There are a wide variety of apartment complexes and rental properties to choose from in Bloomington. The earlier you start your search, the more choices you will have.
Keep Up The Good Work
You must successfully complete the course work listed on your application, maintain your solid academic performance, and demonstrate continued academic integrity.
Sign up for New Student Orientation
All new undergraduate students are required to attend orientation, which is where you will register for your first semester classes. In July, the Office of First Year Experience Programs (FYE) will begin sending out invitations to New Student Orientation (NSO) and it will show up in your iStart Checklist.
Make your reservation as soon as you receive your official invitation!
If you are a graduate student, you should contact your academic department to learn about any orientation requirements.
If you are a visiting exchange student not seeking an IU degree, your orientation is jointly managed by our office and your academic department. You will receive more information about orientation by email.
Submit Your Immunization Information
All students must complete the immunization compliance form and submit it to the Office of the Registrar prior to the first day of classes.
